What is the Meditation Practice Journal?

Meditation does not ask us to become someone else. It gives us a quiet place to notice what is already here, then return with a little more steadiness, clarity, and compassion.

I created this journal to help meditation live in the middle of real life. You can use the guided routines to begin, the daily pages to record what you experience, and the weekly and monthly reflections to recognize changes that are easy to miss while they are happening. This is not a scorecard. It is a place to pause, listen, and begin again.

What is inside the journal?

  • Eight guided routines, including breath awareness, body scan, walking meditation, loving-kindness, mantra, open awareness, grounding, and a longer integration practice
  • Ninety daily pages to record duration, practice, emotional tone, experience, and insight
  • Thirteen weekly themes that bring mindfulness into daily life
  • Weekly reflections to notice patterns without judging the practice
  • Thirty, sixty, and ninety-day reflections to take a wider view of what is changing
  • Quotes and gentle reminders throughout the journal
  • Generous writing space designed for pen or pencil

Who is this meditation journal for?

This journal is for beginners who want a clear place to start, experienced meditators who want to reconnect with consistency, and anyone who wants to understand their practice more honestly. You do not need a quiet mind, a perfect posture, or a long block of time. Five attentive minutes can be a meaningful practice.

Why write about meditation by hand?

In our digital world, sometimes one of the most grounding things we can do is pick up a pen or pencil and put our experience on paper.

Writing by hand slows us down, brings us back into the body, and gives us a little more room to hear what is true for us.

A note from Greg

Portrait of Greg de Vries

Meditation entered my life in 1999 and became an anchor through change, uncertainty, joy, loss, and the ordinary pressures of being human. I have been teaching since 2004, and what continues to move me is how simple and human this practice can be. My hope is that these pages help you build a relationship with meditation that is steady enough to support you and flexible enough to last.

Frequently asked questions about the journal

Do I need meditation experience?

No. The journal includes simple guided routines and practical instructions for beginners, while leaving enough freedom for experienced meditators to use practices they already know.

How much time do I need each day?

Begin with an amount of time you can return to consistently. Five attentive minutes can be meaningful. The journal supports short and longer practices.

Do I need to write a lot?

No. A few honest words are enough. The pages give you room to write more when something wants your attention.

Can I use it with Greg's guided meditations?

Yes. You can use the journal with Greg's guided meditations, the routines included in the book, live Wednesday sessions, or another practice that feels right for you.
